A news release showing Kamala Harris’ schedule for visiting the border shows she was miles away
Harris was at the airport, border patrol station, and left Texas at 12:30 PM
A news release from Vice President’s office shows that the Kamala Harris didn’t visit the U.S. Mexican border, but rather a border patrol station. The schedule shows she toured the El Paso Border Patrol Station, met with “advocates from faith-based NGOs,” and then was flying out of Texas by 12:30. The schedule also notes media coverage of the visit, location for a photo op, and taking questions from reporters.
According to the news release from the Office of the Vice President dated yesterday, Kamala Harris flew in at the El Paso International Airport at 6:00 AM this morning. By 8:35 AM Harris toured the El Paso Border Patrol Station which is approximately 26 miles away from the border, and almost 800 miles away from the Rio Grande Valley which is the main entry point for migrants.
At 10:35 AM Harris met with “advocates from faith-based NGOs, and shelter and legal service providers.” The meeting took place back at the El Paso International Airport which lasted an hour and ten minutes.
At 11:35 AM Harris was scheduled to speak and take questions from reporters, and left Texas at 12:30 where she flew to Los Angeles for the night.
During her visit in El Paso, Harris stated that the Biden administration has made “extreme progress” regarding the massive increase of migrants at the border. She also stated that she had planned to come to the border back in March.
“Because as I’ve long said, I said back in in March I was going to come to the border so this is not a new plan. But the reality of it is we have to deal with the causes and we have to deal with the effects.”
The Biden administration including Vice President Harris state that the main causes of the crisis at the border are climate change, violence, and poverty from Central America.
She also said that it is the Trump Administration’s fault for the crisis at the border saying, “we inherited a tough situation.”
Harris’ visit to Texas comes 100 days after President Biden assigned her to solve the border crisis, and shortly after news that former President Donald Trump would be visiting the border. Trump is scheduled to visit the border next Wednesday the 30th along with Texas governor Greg Abbott and other Republicans.
Trump stated regarding the crisis, “Our recently secured Southern Border is now worse than ever before. At no time in our Country’s history has anything so outrageous taken place.”
