Over 90,000 migrants apprehended by Border Patrol since Oct. 1

Over 90,000 migrants have been apprehended by Border Patrol in the first 18 days of the 2022 fiscal year, according to a source within the organization.

The 2022 fiscal year, which began October 1, has thus far been fruitful for Customs and Border Protection. According to a source, border patrol officers have apprehended over 90,000 migrants in just the first 18 days. Comparatively, in the entire month of October 2020, Breitbart reports, they apprehended 69,049 migrants.

Along the southern border, illegal crossings have soared in recent months, with Yuma and the Rio Grande Valley seeing the most traffic. Del Rio, Texas saw a rise in Haitian migrants in September, while those attempting to enter the United States via Yuma hail from all over the world. It was reported that migrants from Venezuela, Nicaragua, and even Uzbekistan were among those trying to get in.

According to the aforementioned source, of those apprehended in Yuma, over 11,000 were processed using traditional legal pathways, which allow for families and unaccompanied minors to seek asylum in the United States.

It was revealed that since October 1, just under 600 migrants attempting to enter via Yuma were returned to Mexico under the Centers for Disease Control's Title 42 rule, which according to ABC News, "allows the government to prevent the introduction of individuals during certain public health emergencies."
